Coming in 2013!
The idea of automatic tire chains per se is not new because the first patent was issued in 1915 and almost a century later the current systems are still cumbersome to maintain and deploy within fleets. Whereas the new AutoChains systems will fundamentally transform the industry and these systems' utility.
The AutoChains ATD systems (automatic and automated traction devices) hallmark will be less unsprung and cantilevered weight, ease of installation, use and service with improved traction and braking performance. More importantly our new chain wheels will be retrofittable so that the performance and operating cost of Onspot, RUD (RotoGrip), Hildebrand (Roto-Chain) and Insta-Chain installed fleets can be improved just by replacing their chain wheels.
AutoChains' Chain Wheel Advances Include:
Increased braking*
Increased traction*
Lower engagement speeds
Higher operating speeds
Higher emergency engagement speeds
Equally effective forward or reverse
Lower operating and maintenance cost
Minimized chain stress on tire tread
Increased road clearance on low profile tire equipped vehicles
* Unique/Optimal chain configuration
AutoChains are MADE in the USA with the exception of our chain where we sought out the best in the world. Heralding the hammer wielding Norse god THOR and lighting our actual chain links are manufactured in Norway by TRYGG, the ultimate in alloyed chain steel which contain chrome, manganese, nickel and boron, and in some cases nickel and titanium.
A variation of the AutoChains system will be adaptable as a steering axle systems for fire trucks, ambulances and busses designed to address the severe control problems encountered during descents, turning or approaches on ice covered intersections. Another variation of our system will help prevent tractor trailers from jack knifing on ice covered highways during emergency braking.
In addition, our matching AutoChains SuperLite commercial tire chains are being designed to reduce weight and overall operating cost, with the added benefit of easy field repairability. A full set of replacement cross links can be carried in a lunch bag and exchanged in under ten minutes. Great for applications where chains have to be applied often, steering axles when warranted or in conjunction with the AutoChains ATDs when maximum traction is needed. First sizes will be for 22.5, 24.5 tires, including super singles and wide base.
Impact:
Time is money: AutoChains systems will keep you on time, reduce your operating cost and prevent drivers from being exposed to hazards during tire chain installations or when they think they can make it by not chaining when conditions warrant.
